A comprehensive review of the market's 5 best sofas

There’s no such thing as the perfect sofa, but you can get close. Comfort and style are personal — what feels like a dream to one person can be a nightmare to another.

It all depends on how you live. Movie nights or dinner parties? Kids, pets, or both? Do you need space for two or room for the whole family?

A sofa is one of the biggest investments in your home. Not because it’s expensive, but because it’s where life happens. If it’s not comfortable, or you don’t love the look, it’ll remind you every single day.

That’s why we created this guide. Here you’ll find our favorite sofas, plus the key things to look for when choosing the right one for your home.

Price range: €400-€1.500

At moduri. comfort doesn’t come with compromises. Their dynamic trio — The Corner, Chair, and Puff — connects seamlessly in minimalist Danish design, giving you the freedom to rearrange endlessly: for cozy family nights, stylish gatherings and everyday living.

Where others limit your choices, moduri expands them. Every sofa is modular, with tool-free unboxing, and built for real life. Stain-resistant. Pet-friendly. Washable. Changeable covers. In other words: comfort you can rely on, day after day.

Backed by their signature CloudFoam® support, moduri is more than a sofa. It’s a wellness-driven design, crafted to make every moment at home softer, calmer, and more connected.

Customer satisfaction is top priority and therefore moduri offer a 5 year sofa warranty.

That’s why they deserve the top of the podium — and earn our recommendation as the best sofa of 2025.

2. BenchMade Modern Eva

Cozy living room with beige sofa, coffee table, plants, and framed art on the wall.

Price range: €3.500-€3.800

BenchMade Modern sits at the higher end of the market, with prices well above brands like moduri. or Burrow. But what do you really get for the premium? A lifetime frame guarantee — but just one year for cushions and fabrics.

Customization is a positive aspect. The Eva comes in eight widths, multiple fabrics (velvet, leather, performance textiles), and different configurations — from sectionals to chaises.

Still, there are drawbacks. BenchMade Modern is online-only, and customer support is at best decent. It’s also expensive — $3,200 for a 90-inch Eva, compared to about $1,000 for a similar-size Moduri Twin Corner. The return policy is less flexible than the marketing suggests: 14 days for a refund minus fees, or up to 100 days with a 10% processing fee.

Another aspect to consider is the fabric, which is not stain-resistant, washable, or pet-friendly.

3. Sabai The Elevate 86"

Brown sofa with yellow pillow, abstract art, side table, and lamp in a cozy living room.

Price range: €2.500-€2.900

Founded in 2019, Sabai is a sustainability-driven newcomer in the furniture world. The Elevate Sofa, reflects that mission: built in the US with recycled and upcycled fabrics, offered in 20 colors, and shipped in flat-pack boxes that are surprisingly easy to assemble. Testers praised its firm yet supportive cushions and the elegant curved design that feels modern and inviting.

But there are trade-offs. The armrests are so firm that they’re not comfortable for lounging without extra pillows, and the low 16-inch seat height can feel too close to the floor for some. Style options are limited, and the brand doesn’t offer tool-free unboxing.

Moreover, the warranty lasts just a single year, which makes you question whether they believe in the quality of their product themselves if they can’t offer a better guarantee.

4. Metro Sofa 88"

Modern living room with gray sofa, bookshelves, and wooden coffee table.

Price range: €1.500-€3.100

Founded in 1980, Room & Board has built its reputation on craftsmanship and customer service. The Metro Sofa reflects that legacy: timeless lines and supportive cushions.

Staff and customers alike praise its durability — even after years of pets, kids, and heavy use.

Still, it’s not perfect. The standard depth can feel too shallow for taller loungers, and the sofa sits at the higher end of the price spectrum ($2,000 for a standard fabric).

Long lead times are very common, with waits of three months where you’ve already paid but still have no sofa — a dealbreaker for many, and understandably so.

If you can tolerate the wait, it’s a decent choice, but not a sofa that will turn heads at your next gathering.

5. Sixpenny Aria Grande Sectional

Beige sofa with cushions, wooden screen, small table, and potted plant in a cozy living room.

Price range: €1.800-€2.500

Sixpenny is known for its oversized, cloud-like sofas with extra-deep 32-inch seats, down-filled cushions, and a relaxed, rumpled look, it delivers on the cozy, lounge-all-day aesthetic. Fabrics are beautiful, often hand-dyed cotton and linen, and slipcovers are removable, though washing them is time-consuming.

But comfort here comes with trade-offs. The sofa is so plush that it’s difficult to sit upright, cushions need frequent plumping, and natural fabrics stain and fade easily.

The armless design looks stylish, but it won’t suit everyone — and it requires constant use of throw pillows for proper support.

It’s a sofa for those who value looks and fluff above all else. Compared with moduri., it lacks practical features like stain-resistant, pet-friendly fabrics, tool-free modularity, and a warranty that truly covers everyday use.
